Number 779, the last steam locomotive shipped from Lima, OH (May 13, 1949), was given to the city by the Nickel Plate in 1962. it is on permanent exhibit at Lincoln Park in Lima. A 2-8-4 Berkshire type locomotive, it was the last of 65 built by the Lima Locomotive Works for the Nickel Plate on five different orders from 1942 to 1949. They were road numbers 715 to 779 - railroad class "S". Weight in working order: engine 444,290 pounds; tender (2/3/loaded), 288,840 pounds, total locomotive, 733,130 pounds. Water capacity, 22,000 gallons. Coal capacity, 22 tons. Allen County Historical Society, Lima, Ohio.
