The purpose of this page is to provide modelers and collectors of Nickel Plate model trains with information about available NKP products. The information is supplied by society members and visitors to this site. Contributions to this page are welcome. Please email us with news of a new product or model railroad web site. Many modeling questions and answers have been posted in the last year or more which may help you in your NKP modeling projects. The fourth in a series, this newly announced TRUE Limited Edition will be produced in cooperation with the Nickel Plate Road Historical & Technical Society to commemorate the 2008 Society convention in Huron, Ohio. Never before offered in O-Scale, the lettering and graphics for these cars will be designed to NKP prototype specifications and will be ideal for both operators and collectors who desire the very best in Nickel Plate Road O-Scale ready-to-run models.

    A portion of the proceeds from sales to NKPHTS members will be donated to the NKPHTS to fund ongoing Society programs.

    PROTOTYPE FACTS: The prototype cars (W&LE #23500 - 23749) were built for the Wheeling & Lake Erie in March, 1948 at the American Car & Foundry (ACF) shops in St. Louis, MO. Original lot number was 3227. After the lease of the W&LE to the Nickel Plate Road, the original car numbers remained unchanged. These cars carried a W&LE SUB-LESSOR designation under the NYC&STL in the upper left corner of the carside.)

    The 2008 O-Scale NKPHTS Convention Car is not an officially sanctioned project of the NKPHTS, Inc. Buffalo Creek Graphics is solely responsible for the design, production, and marketing of the convention car project for the benefit of both Society members and non-members with an interest in operating and/or collecting O-Scale models of the Nickel Plate Road.

    Buffalo Creek Graphics is pleased to announce the release of a special custom run of New York, Chicago & St. Louis (Nickel Plate Road) 33000 series, 2-bay, offset hoppers. Issued in association with the Nickel Plate Road Historical & Technical Society, these Weaver O-scale cars have prototypical black car bodies and are lettered in the "as-delivered" paint scheme. Available in three road numbers, this offering is limited to an edition of only 33-sets (100 cars), and may be ordered as a 3-car set or as individual cars. 2008 Lionel Nickel Plate Products

The 2008 Lionel catalogs show three new Nickel Plate cars.

  1. The 2008 Signature Edition catalog shows a Nickel Plate Boxcar with End Doors, item #6-27229 (pg. 105) and a 3-Pack of NKP PS-2 Covered Hoppers, item #6-27034 (pg. 109).
  2. The K-Line Catalog offers a Nickel Plate Die Cast 2-Bay Outside Braced Hopper, item #6-22152 (pg. 30).

Nickel Plate Models Now on the Internet

Nickel Plate Models

Nickel Plate Models is now on the internet with a web site at http://www.trainresource.com/Nickel_Plate_Models.html. Nickel Plate Models produces model railroad products, parts and decals of interest to modelers of the Nickel Plate Road. The primary focus of the Company is on O scale (1/4 inch to the foot or 1:48 scale) modeling and modelers, although we occasionally do models in HO and other scales. The Company markets brass models, brass kits, plastic models and custom decals. We also publish a newsletter containing items of interest to O scale NKP modelers.

Roundhouse Announces HO RTR 40' Wood Box Cars

Roundhouse has just announced two NYC&StL HO RTR 40' Wood Box Cars (RND84681 & RND84682). Suggested retail price is $16.98. The cars are due in early March 2009. Bowser Announces NKP Hoppers

Bowser has announced two 3-car series of NKP 70-ton 2-bay hoppers. The first series are for prototypes built in 1939 and the other are from 1941. Delivery is in June 2008.
