Front: Nickel Plate 779 is all dressed up and has someplace to go. The final engine of Lima's last steam order basks in the sun just before its final move to Lima's Lincoln Park. Thanks to John Keller and his fellow volunteers, the 779 looks as impressive today. Photo: Willis A. McCaleb, James Semon Collection
Back: This is the "builder's photo" that wasn't. Lima photographed the 776 to represent its final order. To satisfy requests for photos of the 779, the folks in the photo shop "converted" the 776 into 779 by inverting the last digit. It was child's play for an airbrush artist who could add a 6-wheel trailing truck and a double Belpaire firebox to a C&O Greenbrier. Photo: Allen County Historical Society
