In September 1968, ten years after being retired from active duty on the NKP, Berkshire 759 was revived following a complete rebuild at Conneaut, Ohio, under the auspices of Ross Rowland's High Iron Company and the Steamtown Foundation, which owned the 759 at that time. The 2-8-4 served in fantrip service until I973. It is shown during what was advertised as its final trip, which was over the Erie Lackawanna between Hoboken, N.Y., and Binghamton, N.Y., in August 1971. The 759 was revived briefly early in the 1970s but permanently retired in 1973. JOHN DZIOBKO
