Front: MAIN PHOTO: Photographer Tom Gascoigne comments that "this train at Silver Creek, N.Y., was really cruisin'! It must have been doing 70 when it shot by me." This was train OB-2 (Hammond/ Osborne-Buffalo), one of the hottest trains on the railroad on the last leg of its trip into the Gateway City ca. 1960. Note the reefer block up front, comprising cars off Western connections via the Indiana Harbor Belt to Hammond. THOS. GASCOIGNE.

Back: A rare view of the short-lived joint Nickel Plate-LehIqh Valley Chicago -Jersey City run-through train on LV roils with NKP power as discussed in the final installment of the Buffalo trilogy within this issue We're at Sayre. Pa., on March 21, 1965, to witness NKP passenger GP9 479, GP9 810, and an RS-3 lead the westbound fun-through out of town. Initially, LV power was intended to run through on NKP rails all the way to Chicago and NKP power all the way to Jersey City, but a union dispute resulted in run-through power being turned back at Bellevue and Sayre, respectively. This pool-train arrangement began on Feb, 4, 1964, and lasted nine months post the N&W merger, ending on July 9, 1965.
