Tack Board- questions from readers

Car 831 - letters to the Editor

Front: You could find outsize cargo of almost any type in a mill gondola. Almost thirty years after its birth as W&LE 73601, NKP 65161 pays a call at Bradenton, Florida with a load of arched roof trusses. The ex-Wheeling & Lake Erie mill gons were as durable as they were versatile; at the time of this December 1961 photo, all 100 of the original cars were still in service.

Back: Although S-2 767 will forever be associated with Fort Wayne, she did put in some time on the East End as well. Shortly before the collision at NE tower, she has charge of an eastbound at Cascade, Pennsylvania, just west of Erie. An H-5 has gotten in the clear for 767 and her charge, which have a date in Buffalo in just a few hours.
