Nickel Plate 2-8-4 No. 742 heads past the coal dock at Cleveland's 55th Street yard with a string of "yellow bellies" headed back to Chicago. Westbound NKP hot shots were known for their consists of empty refrigerator cars heading back to the system's western Gateways for reloading and shipment east on manifest freights like NC-3 for Chicago and NS-1 for Madison (St. Louis).
