Car 831 - letters to the Editor

Front: The weather may be dull and overcast, but July 24, 2007 was a bright day in the continuing history of Nickel Plate 763. With the sale of the Berkshire complete, she heads to Norfolk Southern facilities for a thorough check-up before shipment to the Ohio Central shops at Morgan Run. NS 4609 provides the power, and two workers lend watchful eyes.

Back: The 763's life had just begun when Paul Prescott found her on August 12, 1945. She's at Cascade, Pennsylvania on the Buffalo Division, which will be her home throughout her entire career. That career will resume again, half a century since the 763 last felt a fire on her grates.
