Buffalo Creek Graphics has just announced that, for the fifth consecutive year, they will be producing a special Nickel Plate O-scale freight car to commemorate the annual NKPHTS Convention; this year to be held in the Buffalo area. The 2009 release will be a Limited Edition, custom decorated 29000 Series 40' double door auto boxcar with DF loader designation. These cars are being designed to NKP prototype specifications by Crown Model Products and will be produced on Weaver carbodies. As in past years, the cars will be available in three road numbers, and as single cars and complete sets. One road number will carry a special Buffalo Convention designation on the B-end tackboard.
This is the last major variation of NKP 40' double door boxcars that will be produced by Buffalo Creek and will surely compliment the previous releases that included the NKP 24800 in original paint scheme, NKP 22000 series, W&LE 30000 series, and last year's NKP/WLE Lessee 23500 series cars.

NKPHTS Announces Special Convention Raffle
One of the most exciting and unique events of the 2009 NKPHTS Convention will be the Society Special, a steam-powered mixed train and rare mileage trip over the Arcade & Attica Railroad on Friday, October 9, 2009. Through the generosity of Tom Gascoigne, who is coordinating the trip with A&A General Manager, George Ling, on behalf of the NKPHTS 2009 Convention Committee, a special Convention Raffle has been announced, featuring a custom-decorated, Atlas O Arcade & Attica X-29 boxcar, identical to the one on display near the A&A Depot in Arcade. New York. Produced by Eastern States Limited Editions, the production design was created by John Slater of Buffalo Creek Graphics, while custom painting and pad printing services were provided by Joe Hayter of Weaver Models. Only four of these special cars were created, and one of them will be won by a lucky participant in a drawing to be held in conjunction with the convention's events on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $1.00 each or 3/$2.00, and may be purchased on the day of the trip, or at Saturday's Nickel Plate RoadShow event at the Grand Island Holiday Inn Resort & Conference Center. The drawing will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, October 10. 2009. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the NKPHTS Founder's Fund. A second, identical car will be featured as the door prize at the 2009 NKPHTS Banquet, and a special drawing will be held at that event. Only convention registrants who attend the banquet will be qualified to win this second unique convention commemorative. Winners of these two very special commemorative cars will enjoy a lasting reminder of the 2009 NKPHTS Convention. so you should make your plans to attend this year's convention as soon as possible.
