NS 8100 at the NCTM

As part of their celebration of the 30th anniversary of the merger of the Norfolk Western and Southern railroads, the Norfolk Southern painted 20 of its new locomotives in the colors of its predecessor railroads - the Nickel Plate Road being one of those roads. On July 3 & 4, 2012, the NS gathered all 20 of the locomotives at the North Carolina Transportation Museum for a "Heritage Family Portrait." The slide show below includes 14 photos of the Nickel Plate Road painted NS 8100 at various stages in the two day festivities. All photos by John Fryar unless otherwise indicated.

You may let the slideshow run at its own speed or use the controller in the center of the photo to pause, advance, or reverse the slides. Place your cursor over the middle of the photo and the controls will appear.
